Senior Director, Digital Membership
New York Public Radio seeks a dynamic and results-driven Senior Director of Digital Membership to lead and expand the organization’s digital fundraising initiatives. As a key leader in the Membership team, this individual will drive strategy, innovation, and execution to achieve an ambitious $3.7 million annual revenue goal through digital channels. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Membership, the Senior Director will work collaboratively across teams to ensure the growth of NYPR’s digital donor base and build a sustainable pipeline of support for the organization’s mission-driven programming.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Lead the Digital Membership Program, primarily all efforts to acquire, engage, convert and retain audiences for our on-demand content, including Radiolab, On the Media, Gothamist, and other podcasts and digital properties.
Set strategy, drive innovation and growth, manage budgeting, and provide thoughtful reporting and analysis.
Partner with the SVP of Membership to align digital fundraising strategies with broader membership and organizational goals.
Lead efforts to meet or exceed the $3.7 million annual revenue target through innovative digital campaigns, donor acquisition, retention, and upgrading strategies.
Program Execution
Leverage email, social media, website optimization, mobile platforms, and emerging technologies to maximize revenue and donor engagement.
Spearhead lead-generation activities to drive member acquisition, conversion and retention through lifecycle marketing.
Leverage Salesforce Marketing Cloud and utilize a segmentation strategy to develop and execute compelling user journeys and campaigns
Segment customers into meaningful and actionable cohorts, conduct A/B and multivariate tests, and track and analyze performance.
Manage digital advertising strategies, including paid search, display, and social media ads, to drive fundraising growth.
Monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics, donor behavior, and industry benchmarks to continuously optimize digital fundraising initiatives.
Collaboration & Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a direct report, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
Collaborate with internal teams, including Philanthropy, Audience, Marketing, and Content, to integrate fundraising strategies into NYPR’s digital presence.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors and partners involved in digital fundraising campaigns.
Innovation & Optimization
Oversee testing and implementation of new digital fundraising tools, technologies, and platforms to enhance donor experiences.
Drive efforts to improve conversion rates, optimize member journeys, and personalize donor communications.
Stay abreast of advancements in digital marketing and fundraising, applying best practices to NYPR’s strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in digital fundraising, marketing, or related fields, with a track record of achieving revenue goals.
Proven expertise in leading multi-channel digital campaigns, including email, social media, website optimization, and paid media.
Deep knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and use insights to inform strategy and decision-making.
Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a history of fostering collaborative, high-performing teams.
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for public media and a commitment to NYPR’s mission.
Additional Information
This is a full-time role with a salary of $140,000 per year (plus a full benefits package).
New York Public Radio also offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with vacation time, personal days, sick time and parental leave.
This role is based in New York City (or the immediate metro area) and operates in a hybrid capacity. This individual is expected to work onsite at WNYC’s Manhattan headquarters at least 3 days a week.
