Job Description:

Binghamton University's Division of Occupational Therapy, located at the newly renovated, state-of-the-art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is conducting a cluster hire for its developing entry-level occupational therapy doctoral (OTD) program and invites applicants for full-time, campus-based, 10-month faculty appointments. The position encompasses teaching, innovation, and clinically driven scholarship. Faculty rank, tenure-track options, and salary depend on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. Tenure-track/tenured faculty may qualify for designation as a Binghamton University Faculty Fellow.

Responsibilities include:

* Participating in ongoing curriculum development, implementation, and assessment for the developing entry-level doctoral program;
* Close collaboration with other faculty within the Division and with faculty in related departments;
* Developing a clinical scholarship or innovation agenda.
* Establishing an independent research program that will attract external funding;
* Developing an externally supported research program that contributes to our designation as an R1 institution;
* Contributing to the department's teaching mission by instructing doctoral courses in their area of expertise;
* Contributing to the development and implementation of the doctoral capstone experience;
* Serving as a faculty advisor and mentor to students in the Entry-Level Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy program;
* Teaching assigned courses based on area of expertise;
* Engaging in program and university committees as appropriate;
* Participate in student academic advising and service at the division, college, and university levels

The candidates should have at least three years of experience in occupational therapy assessment and intervention with an impressive clinical background in one or more of the following areas of practice:

* adult and older adult physical disabilities and chronic conditions;
* adult and older adult mental health;
* infant, child, and adolescent physical disabilities and chronic conditions;
* infant, child, and adolescent mental health;
* developmental, learning, and intellectual disabilities;
* foundations of occupational therapy and occupational science;
* functional anatomy and neuroanatomy;
* functional kinesiology;
* assistive technologies and environmental modification;
* population/community health, wellness and prevention;
* health care systems and delivery models of practice.

Preferred candidates would have graduate-level teaching experience with experience supporting doctoral-level students in final project completion and presentation.

The program has earned ACOTE Candidacy status and launched the inaugural class in Fall 2023. Specific start dates for successful candidates are negotiable and based on the assigned course load.

Requirements:

*Qualifications:*

* Research doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD) from an accredited institution
* At least three years of experience in occupational therapy assessment and intervention
* New York State Occupational Therapy license, or equivalent certification, by time of appointment
* Demonstrated expertise in any one (or more) of the previously listed content areas
* Research agenda with peer reviewed publications and a research plan that proposes internal and extramural funding strategies

*Preferred Qualifications:*

* Experience teaching in an accredited, graduate-level, occupational therapy program
* Experience supporting doctoral-level students with final projects
* Experience in outcome assessments
* Experience in innovative instructional approaches, which can include: active learning, problem-based approaches, case-based approaches, and simulation
