Job Description

This role leads healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a strong focus on high-tech, mission-critical environments such as MRI, CT, LINAC, and radiology suites. The Project Manager develops and manages project budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies while coordinating closely with clients, design teams, and specialty vendors. The position requires deep expertise in complex MEP systems, radiation shielding, and technical installations, ensuring all work meets stringent healthcare regulations and New York City code requirements. The Project Manager drives project delivery, risk management, and quality control to achieve successful outcomes in highly specialized healthcare and life sciences facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring alignment with project goals, scope, and client expectations.
  • Develop, manage, and track project budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies to deliver projects on time and within financial targets.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, physicists, and subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of design, engineering, and construction activities.
  • Oversee the integration and installation of radiation shielding systems, imaging equipment, and other specialty installations for MRI, CT, LINAC, and radiology build-outs.
  • Ensure full compliance with Department of Health (DOH), NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) requirements, infection control risk assessments (ICRA), and hospital operational constraints.
  • Manage the full contract administration process, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and associated documentation.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings with project stakeholders, providing clear updates on schedule, budget, risks, and key decisions.
  • Identify potential risks early and proactively resolve construction or design conflicts to avoid delays and cost impacts.
  • Ensure rigorous quality control in high-tech and mission-critical spaces, verifying that all work meets project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate complex MEP scopes and ensure that building systems are properly integrated, tested, and commissioned.
  • Effectively manage fast-track projects and work within occupied healthcare facilities, minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Collaborate with design-build and specialty contractors to deliver integrated, high-spec construction solutions.
  • Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills
  • 10+ years of experience in construction project management.
  • Proven project management experience in healthcare, life sciences, or specialized interior construction.
  • Hands-on experience managing MRI, CT, LINAC, and radiology build-outs (highly preferred).
  • Strong construction management and project coordination skills, including change order management and contract administration.
  • Deep understanding of complex MEP systems and their coordination within high-tech healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage fast-track projects and construction within occupied facilities.
  • Proficiency with Procore for construction management and project documentation.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Project for project scheduling and planning.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam for drawing review, markups, and document control.
  • Strong understanding of New York City building codes and healthcare regulations.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Ability to interpret and apply DOH, NYC DOB, ICRA, and hospital operational requirements to construction activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with design-build firms or specialty contractors on complex, technical construction projects.
  • Knowledge of radiation shielding systems and technical construction scopes related to oncology, imaging, and radiology environments.
  • CCM certification or similar professional construction management designation is a plus.
  • Background in healthcare facility construction, including cancer centers, imaging suites, and specialized treatment spaces.
  • Experience delivering custom, highly technical environments that require strict safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively with clients, design teams, and technical consultants.
  • Ability to thrive in a single-source, integrated delivery environment that combines consulting, design, construction, and installation services.
Work Environment

This is an on-site role within active healthcare and high-tech medical environments, including cancer centers, imaging suites, and specialized treatment spaces such as MRI, CT, LINAC, and radiology rooms. The work involves close collaboration with architects, engineers, physicists, and specialty contractors in facilities that demand strict adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards. Projects often take place in occupied healthcare settings, requiring careful planning to minimize disruption to ongoing operations.
