EMT or Paramedic (PRN)
Medcor is looking to hire a EMT or Paramedic on a PRN basis to be an Onsite Health Technician in our employer based, occupational health clinic in Amsterdam, NY. The Onsite Health & Wellness Technician plays a critical role in delivering Medcor’s Workplace Health Management services by performing onsite injury and illness evaluation and treatment at assigned client worksite. The role serves as a resource, point of contact and liaison for the administration and continuous improvement of health and wellness programs for our valued customers.
Hours of Operation for the Clinic are as follows:
Sunday & Monday: 9:00am-8:00pm
Tuesday: 9:00am-7:00pm
Wednesday: 9:00am-9:00pm
Thursday-Saturday: 9:30am-7:30pm
**Since this is on an as needed basis there are no guaranteed hours. If you have the availability to pick up an occasional shift we invite you to apply.**
Pay Rate: $25-$28/hr. with potential to earn more based on licensure and experience.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to and provide work related injury/illness assessment and treatment within license scope of practice and according to standard operating procedures and protocols.
- Exercise proper medical triage in evaluating severity, treatment, disposition, referral, and transportation.
- Collaborate and work with cross-functional partners, including onsite client department managers, human resources, environmental health & safety, and security to ensure the integration and coordination of services are consistent with standardized operations, Medcor patient care guidelines and client policies and procedures.
- Assist with employee health/wellness and safety related programs and events such as health fairs, hearing tests, saliva and drug screens and other health/wellness management related initiatives.
- Ensure maintenance and upkeep of onsite clinic and manage supplies and inventory control.
- Apply knowledge of clinical occupational health as well as knowledge of regulations impacting the work environment (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA). Stay current with healthcare industry regulations and standards to ensure the organization remains in compliance.
Required Job Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Valid Certification as EMT or Paramedic
- 1-2 years of experience in current field as EMT or Paramedic.
Desired Job Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a fast paced environment such as Emergency room or Urgent Care.
- Ability to work independently in the clinic and provide care with confidence.
- Previous experience in an occupational healthcare setting and knowledge of Workman's Compensation and OSHA.
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships across all levels.
- Able to use strong critical thinking skills such as problem solving and quick decision making.
- Excellent time management skills with ability to independently prioritize and ensure completion of scheduled duties without compromising quality.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to walk for long periods of time and long distances when needed.
- Ability to quickly report to a scene while carrying a 50lb. medical bag/jump bag.
- You have experience in emergency medicine or critical care.
- The work environment is characteristic of an onsite occupational clinic. Noise conditions vary depending on facility from moderate noise to noisy conditions.
