Position Overview:

Kayne Anderson Private Credit (“KAPC”) is seeking a Vice President or Director to join its Restructuring & Workouts team. This individual will play a key role in managing stressed and distressed portfolio investments across KAPC’s middle market direct lending platform.

The role is designed for a hands-on restructuring professional with a strong creditor-side orientation who can independently lead complex situations while partnering closely with deal teams, management teams, and external advisors. The position offers significant responsibility, including primary leadership of select credits and direct exposure to investment committee decision-making.

This hire will be an integral part of a lean, high-impact team responsible for preserving and enhancing value across a diversified portfolio of middle market investments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead restructuring and workout situations across KAPC’s portfolio, including both in-court and out-of-court processes (e.g., amendments, liability management, Chapter 11, and rescue financings)
  • Act as primary point of contact on select stressed/distressed investments, driving strategy, negotiations, and execution
  • Develop and evaluate restructuring strategies , including capital structure solutions, liquidity management, and downside protection scenarios
  • Engage directly with management teams, sponsors, and advisors , including participation in board meetings and creditor negotiations
  • Oversee financial analysis and modeling , including liquidity forecasting, recovery analysis, and valuation work
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders , including deal teams, investment committee, and senior leadership
  • Manage external advisors , including legal counsel, financial advisors, and consultants
  • Monitor broader portfolio trends , identifying early warning signals and proactively managing risk across credits
  • Support underwriting teams on stressed situations, amendments, and opportunistic secondary or rescue investments

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will reflect a blend of restructuring advisory and direct lending experience, consistent with leading profiles in the market.

Requirements

Core Experience:

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in:
  • Restructuring advisory (e.g., FTI, Alvarez & Marsal, etc.)
  • Direct lending / private credit special situations or workouts
  • Credit restructuring groups at banks or investment firms
  • Experience working on the creditor / lender side is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated involvement in complex restructurings, including liability management and distressed situations

Key Skillsets:

  • Ability to independently lead transactions and workstreams, not just support execution
  • Strong understanding of capital structures, credit documentation, and restructuring frameworks
  • Experience with middle market companies, ideally in a direct lending context
  • Financial modeling expertise, including liquidity analysis, recovery modeling, and downside scenarios
  • Comfort operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with limited infrastructure

Differentiators:

  • Hybrid background across advisory and investing roles, providing both technical and ownership perspectives
  • Experience engaging at the board or management level, particularly in operational or turnaround situations
  • Track record of managing multiple concurrent situations within a portfolio setting

Personal Characteristics

  • Highly self-sufficient and accountable, with the ability to take full ownership of situations
  • Strong judgment and decision-making in complex, time-sensitive environments
  • Ability to balance analytical rigor with pragmatic, solution-oriented thinking
  • Comfortable operating with senior stakeholders and counterparties
  • Team-oriented, but capable of operating independently as needed

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to take true ownership of restructuring situations, rather than operating as a junior execution resource
  • Exposure to a diverse middle market portfolio, requiring both technical and strategic problem-solving
  • Ability to work within a nimble platform where individuals have meaningful influence on outcomes
  • Direct interaction with senior leadership and investment committee

Benefits

  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible spending accounts (dependent care, healthcare, limited purpose FSA)
  • Accident and Critical Illness insurance
  • Long Term Disability insurance
  • Competitive 401(k) benefits
  • Pet healthcare savings program
  • Member’s Only Healthcare - healthcare navigation
  • WellHub - corporate wellness platform
  • $10,000 lifetime reimbursement for family forming services (e.g. IVF, adoption, surrogacy)
  • Rocket Lawyer legal benefits
  • Reimbursement of professional society memberships and exam fees
  • Up to $10,000 matching annually for contributions to qualified non-for-profit organizations
  • Parental leave
  • Compensation: Approximately $175,000 to $250,000 base salary with a bonus target of 1.0-2.0x base (depending on experience), plus carried interest in vehicles where appropriate.

Employment with the company is contingent on the applicant being able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire.
