JOB POSTING ASSISTANT BEACON DIRECTOR Partnership with Children provides critical counseling, school-wide services, and family and community outreach in high-poverty, New York City public schools so students can reach their full potential. The Assistant Director leads the day-to-day operations, and delivers on short-term objectives, while keeping the program focused on the overall mission and goals. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with exceptional relationship development and management skills and reports to the BEACON Program Director. Responsibilities: Assists Beacon Director to oversee daily operations of a large afterschool and Beacon program (community program conducted on nights and weekends In conjunction with the Beacon Director, train, develop and directly supervise part time employees and volunteers and evaluate program staff. Provide staff orientation, professional development and conduct regular staff meetings. Attend mandatory staff training and staff meetings throughout the year. Maintain a highly visible presence throughout all areas of programming. Assist the Director in the supervision and quality assurance of all on-the-ground program delivery. Troubleshoot participants and direct reporting staff program problems and make decisions in accordance with program policies, procedures, and protocols. Assist the Director in planning and organizing daily program activities and oversee the implementation of daily schedules and lesson plans. Facilitate regular supervision conferences both individually and in groups with direct reports. Monitor purchases and inventory of program equipment/supplies. Foster meaningful relationships with program participants, staff, parents, host school staff, and community stakeholders. Organize special events and serve as staff liaison with School Administration. Supervise Sub-Contracted Programs, Co-located Programs, Referral Linkage and Reciprocal Agreements. Facilitate Parent Advisory Board meetings monthly and other parent and community engagement activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required in education, youth development, social work, community organizing or another related field. Minimum of two (2) years of experience developing and implementing youth programs, staff training and development. Firm understanding of child development and experience working within a school-age childcare setting. Experience in marketing and budgeting skills. Strong direct management skills, including ability to effectively supervise coach and develop a staff Experience in SACC Licensing Procedures. Strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required by the demands of the program Other Requirements: Evening and Saturday hours required. Must obtain Dept. of Health fingerprinting; doctor’s note certifying good health; proof of negative results from TB test; and State Central Registry (SCR) clearance. Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment. Must take F70 test and obtain FDNY Certificate of Fitness within two weeks of hire. Hours: Full Time/Year-round position School Year Schedule: 40/hour work week; Evening and Saturday hours required. Summer schedule subject to change Salary and Benefits: Salary range is $60,000-$65,000 commensurate to credentials and experience.
