Hospitality Controller
:
Breads Bakery and GPG Hospitality are seeking an experienced professional to oversee and maintain its portfolio's accounting operations to ensure accurate, timely and consistent reporting in accordance with policies and procedures, GAAP, and all applicable laws and regulations. Primary responsibilities include reviewing and executing payroll, accounts receivable and payable, ledger auditing, inventory tracking, cash tracking, cooperation for tax and insurances processes, and maintaining and implementing strong internal controls across the portfolio. The Controller will also publish regular financial reports and review them with each property's General Manager monthly.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day financial and accounting operations of GPG and its portfolio of brands, and ensure compliance with the SOPs, GAAP and all applicable regulations.
- Monitor all third-party software and transactions to ensure accurate data is interfaced with general ledger and related reports.
- Produce thorough financial statements and p&l reports, monitor financial performance on a consistent basis and conduct a timely close of all financials as needed. Analyze and reconcile all general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure financial information is available and accurate.
- Prepare and compile work necessary for the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, taxes and other financial reports to provide support thus ensuring accurate, timely information is available for management and owners.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Collaborate with accounting firm on reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Train, monitor and coordinate the implementation and maintenance of financial and cash controls and information flow throughout entities as appropriate to ensure compliance and accurate records and minimize liabilities, losses and expenses.
- Maintain, refine, and grow the financial SOPs and operating systems. Explore new outlets and applications to ensure the organization utilizes efficient and effective systems and tools relevant to our scope and scale of business operations.
- Oversee day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate cash flow, period end closing processes, balance sheet reconciliations and consolidations, and forecasting activities in collaboration with General Managers for all entities. Recognize the dynamic nature of each business and adapt processes as needed.
- Collaborate with all department and locations leaders to ensure proper processes are maintained and issues are addressed proactively.
- Review all major contracts, leases and operating agreements and execute internal audits to ensure GPG and all portfolio are compliant.
- >2 years experience in food and beverage, hospitality or related industry
- >4 years of accounting experience, preferably in food and beverage for >2 years, with a proven record of delivering results
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and related applications- this role requires above average technological literacy
- Experience with Restaurant 365 reporting software strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of accounting and finance in hospitality and related industries
- Exceptional aptitude for problem solving- ease in dissecting ambiguous situations and providing thoughtful recommendations on next steps
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with people in different locations, departments and working schedules
- Ability to analyze activities or information involving some original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive a logical conclusion
- Strategic thinker with business acumen, strong quantitative and analytical dexterity, and ability to multitask
- Remarkable communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams, portfolio GMs and external stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
- Salary Range: $90,000 -$110,000
