Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Development

The City of Yonkers is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Development. This leadership role supports the Commissioner in overseeing departmental operations and coordinating development initiatives throughout the city.

The City of Yonkers Department of Planning and Development consists of the offices of affordable housing, community development, economic development, and planning. It is the Planning and Development Department's responsibility to support the promotion and coordination of development activities within the City.

Key responsibilities of the Deputy Commissioner include monitoring development projects within the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) target area, preparing required HUD reports and plans, interpreting zoning and subdivision regulations, coordinating planning studies related to land use and development, and supervising staff. The Deputy Commissioner may also represent the Commissioner at meetings, conferences, and public hearings.

Preferred Experience:

· Demonstrated knowledge of municipal planning and development principles

· Familiarity with zoning laws, subdivision regulations, and planning board functions

· Knowledge of HUD regulations and CDBG reporting requirements

· Ability to analyze planning and zoning data and develop recommendations
