Assistant Director of Finance
- Reviews and coordinates plans, activities, programs, practices and operations within the department to determine if operational functions are best servicing needs.
- Monitors document flow from health care setting financial units for timeliness, completeness and accuracy.
- Initiates and implements standard operating procedures and new accounting systems to simplify work load and improve flow of accounting and finance.
- Reviews operational procedures in compliance with authorized systems; implements changes necessary to stave off deterioration of their effectiveness, and recommends and guides the installation of improved procedures for efficient operation of current health care setting financial systems.
- Provides general supervision including the general direction and review of staff personnel, and determines critical document flow points, and recommends solutions to affect resolution of stoppages or delayed processing.
- Engages in the development and maintenance of staff personnel at a level to fulfill operational needs of finance, accounting and systems requirements.
- Prepares special studies and analysis relevant to finance and accounting matters.
- Develops and maintains a system of reports for the guidance of NYC Health + Hospitals financial management and health care setting controllers in the operation of authorized financial and accounting systems, and supervises on a current basis all financial data books, ledgers, records and reports needed to account for and record the results of operations and assets of the System and its subsidiaries.
- Participates in staff conferences, attends various meetings with key personnel of other NYC Health + Hospitals offices and outside agencies.
- Performs other related duties, as directed.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline with an emphasis on accounting and financial systems; and two (2) years of responsible-level experience in fiscal management or administration with an emphasis on financial
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in “1” above; and three(3)years of experience, as described in “1” above, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity.
- Min 2 years’ experience in working healthcare
- Min 2 years’ experience in handling health plan’s qualities such as HEDIS/QARR
- VBP risk financial concept
- Advanced Excel
- Tableau
- SQL / Access or equivalent data management
- Continuous Improvement concepts (TQM, Sigma, LEAN)
- Data & report experience with Epic system
- Proficiency in financial analytics
- Experience with VBP metrics, reimbursement models, or hospital finance.
- Excellent ability to present financial reports to leadership and engage cross-functional teams.
