Position:

I.K. Hofmann has an immediate long-term contract opening for a Prep/ Line Cook in JFK, NY for a First-Class Lounge. Our client provides a variety of food services to Airlines around the world. Over 1,5 million meals a day are served by our clients to Airlines and its passengers. Currently we are looking for customer service staff at an Airport Lounge within JFK Airport. *It is important that our ideal candidate is flexible for any shifts.

Starting Pay of $25.04 per hour

Responsibilities:

• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

• Prepare food for service (e.g., chopping vegetables, slicing, or preparing sauces)

• Cook buffet items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

• Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef's instructions

• Clean up station and take care of leftover food

• Stock inventory appropriately

• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion

• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Job Requirements of a Prep/ Line Cook:

• Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook or prep cook

• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures

• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

• Familiar with industry's best practices

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

• Ability to multi-task as well as stay on task and concentrate with constant interruptions

• Prioritize and delegate tasks in a timely manner

• Maintain a positive attitude under pressure and motivate team

• Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles

• Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior

• Ability to work as a member of a team whose goal is to make all customers experience enjoyable

REQUIRED Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

REQUIRED Experience:

Equivalent professional experience

Qualifications:

Degree in Culinary Arts

Minimum Essential Functions:

• Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time

• The person in this position will be required to move about the kitchen area from station to station.

• Must be able to distinguish between flavors when creating dishes.
