Long Term Temporary Teacher Assistant - Special Education Private School

United Staffing Solutions, a leader in staffing, is representing a non-public Special Education School in their search for Teacher Assistants. The school serves students with various special needs from K-21 years old.

This is a long term temporary assignment beginning in September. The position may have the possibility of becoming permanent if its the right fit.

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-2:30pm

Pay rate: $24/hr

Location: Conveniently in the New Rochelle, about 5-10 min walk from Metro North. Parking lot and street parking available.

Responsibilities for the Special Education Teacher Assistant:

• Supporting the instruction and tutoring of individual or small groups of students.
• Assisting the teacher with classroom management.
• Preparing and/or create class materials as well as assist in assigning tasks.
• Accompanying class to all specials as assigned.
• Assisting the Lead Teacher with monitoring student progress during tests and class assignments, operating audiovisual equipment, and assisting in correcting test papers, recording grades, maintaining files, and keeping accurate daily attendance.
• Assisting the teacher with classroom management and monitoring of student on task behavior

Requirements for the Special Education Teacher Assistant:

• Must have NYSED Teaching Assistant certification
• Must have at least 1 year of experience working with youth with special needs, ideally in an academic setting, but similar experience may be considered
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to provide 2 professional reference contacts
