Principal Engineer, Client Systems
Kforc's client is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of a flagship cloud-native client portal in New York, NY. Summary: This role is ideal for a full-stack leader with deep expertise in building secure, scalable, and intuitive internet-facing applications-especially in AWS environments. You will guide a global team of engineers, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and shape the future of digital client experiences. Essential Functions: Engineering Leadership:
- Lead a team of full-stack engineers focused on delivering seamless digital experiences for clients
- Own the full software development lifecycle-from design and development to testing, support, and continuous improvement
- Ensure consistent UX and interoperability across the client lifecycle ecosystem
- Solve complex business challenges with elegant, scalable solutions
- Drive platform decisions that align with broader product and technology vision
- Promote a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning
- Evaluate and integrate third-party vendors and platforms to accelerate time-to-value
- Ensure security is embedded in every layer of the architecture
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives beyond engineering, supporting broader business goals
- 10+ years of experience building enterprise-grade full-stack applications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing highly available applications in AWS
- Deep knowledge of secure-by-design principles and emerging security threats
- Expert in React, TypeScript, MUI, Vite, Jest, Node.js, and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Proficient in DevOps tools like Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong database skills across SQL and NoSQL environments
- Experience with application instrumentation and analytics for performance insights
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and promote best practices in scalable software development
- Strong communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Passion for staying ahead of tech trends and contributing to internal and external tech communities
- Experience with product-centric design in agile environments
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools
- Prior experience in fast-paced or startup environments
- Contributions to open-source or tech communities
