Position Summary: The Tech Support Teacher will be a dual-role position, splitting time between providing direct support to the school's technology department and teaching a practical, student-facing course on basic technology assistance. This individual will work closely with the Director of IT to ensure the smooth operation of all school technology while also empowering students to become peer-level technology helpers, focusing primarily on common issues like Chromebook troubleshooting and software support.
Responsibilities:
Technology Department Support
Hardware Maintenance: Assist the Director of IT with the setup, deployment, maintenance, and repair of school technology, including Chromebooks, laptops, printers, interactive displays, and network equipment.
User Support: Provide first-level technical support to faculty and staff for common hardware, software, and network issues.
Inventory Management: Help manage and maintain an accurate inventory of all technological assets.
System Administration: Assist with account management, basic networking tasks, and software installations/updates.
Technology Instruction
Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a practical, engaging curriculum focused on foundational tech support skills, emphasizing Chromebook hardware and software basics.
Instruction: Teach a class or elective to students on topics such as:

Basic troubleshooting (restarting, checking connections, clearing cache, etc.).

Understanding common operating system settings (Chrome OS, etc.).

Using help desk/ticketing systems.

Basic printer and peripheral setup.
Required Qualifications:
-
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science) OR relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Google IT Support Professional Certificate) and equivalent experience.

Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and maintaining Chromebooks and other common educational hardware/software.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

A passion for working with and teaching young people in an urban educational setting.

Prior experience in a technology support role.
Preferred Qualications

Prior experience teaching or training others (students or adults) in a technical capacity.

Experience in a school or non-profit technology environment.

Familiarity with G Suite for Education (Google Workspace).
