Positive Solutions Room (PSR) Specialist

The PSR Specialist is a 10-Month Position. He/she will report directly to the Behavior Specialists and the Director of Student Engagement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

? Contact parents daily for students who have violated the SBCS dress code. All points of contact are to be logged each day.

? Be proficient in Word, Excel and Google. Through their knowledge of these programs they will be taught Power School applications.

? Secure the PSR room as their home base. Keeping the room tidy, ready for breakfast/lunch students, and as a place for students to complete work.

? Secure student daily work from homeroom and subject level teachers. They will keep students on task and see that all work is completed in a timely manner. At times the PSR specialist may need to assist students and work with teaching staff on securing extra work as needed.

? Take attendance each day for all ISS students, ISS lunch periods and dismiss students from the PSR room. Dismissal will occur through Pick My Kid for both buses and car riders.

? Watch over students while in his/her care. Communicate with nursing staff and homeroom teachers over any special scheduling, speech, ENL, Special Education, health concerns, etc. that the student(s) may have for each day.

? Work at utilizing de-escalation strategies with students to secure a safe environment. Work with supervisors on creating a safe place for students to follow the rules of the PSR room while completing work and any investigatory behavioral matters.

? Be responsible for behavior tracking of students in the PSR room, daily updates to staff of those students. Communicate and positive and/or negative behaviors.

? Complete all other tasks as required by their supervisor and/or his/her designee.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should possess 1 to 5 years of experience working with students/children in an educational setting. Associate degree, bachelor?s degree, or certifications for education preferred.

The hours of reporting to school are 7:30am to 3:45pm on student and teacher days, unless otherwise directed by a supervisor.

Salary: $23.00 per hour / $35,000 per year. (10 Mo) per year (student plus teacher days)
