Senior Director, Global Digital Operations
The Role
As Kobalt’s Global Digital Business team continues to evolve, we are negotiating increasingly sophisticated digital licensing deals, managing a growing volume of global partnerships, and supporting new products and markets as they come to life.
The Senior Director, Global Digital Business is a senior, strategic role that sits at the intersection of commercial strategy and operational execution. Reporting directly to the Chief Digital Officer, this role is responsible for the operational health, scalability, and revenue optimization of Kobalt’s global digital ecosystem.
This is a critical bridge between deal-making, technical execution, and long-term strategy — ensuring that complex digital partnerships are not only negotiated well, but delivered flawlessly
What You’ll Do
- Identify, negotiate, and develop new B2B digital opportunities while strengthening long-term relationships with existing global partners to maximise revenue.
- Lead the design and execution of digital partnership strategies, ensuring licensing deals are operationally viable from contract through to delivery.
- Manage the operational complexity of specialised client requirements, including rights exclusions, custom executions, and non-standard deal terms.
- Act as a central point of coordination for internal stakeholders, aligning Business Affairs, Tech, Data, and Operations to deliver high-impact digital partnerships.
- Oversee technical testing, data registration, and implementation workflows to ensure full compliance with deal requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on emerging digital segments, using data-driven insights to optimise existing revenue streams and develop new ones.
- Translate complex commercial and technical information into clear, actionable direction for senior stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a specialist team, including the Assistant Manager of Global Digital Business and a Data Analyst, ensuring best-in-class support across all global partnerships.
What You’ll Bring
- 8–10+ years’ experience in the music industry, with a strong background in digital operations, business affairs, or rights management.
- Proven experience operationalising complex digital partnerships, particularly within new or evolving licensing segments.
- Deep understanding of digital royalty flows and the music publishing revenue pipeline, with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to turn data and insight into clear business decisions.
- Confidence working in high-stakes, fast-moving environments with competing priorities.
- Experience working cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
- A genuine passion for music and a desire to support creators at the highest level.
- Experience working with emerging digital platforms and new monetisation models.
- Strong data visualisation and storytelling skills.
- People leadership experience within specialist or technical teams.
