Business Office Accountant

The Retreat Center of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, LI, formally The Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, is seeking a Full-Time Business Office Accountant. This position is part of the Finance office, hours are Monday through Friday plus some weekend hours as needed. This position reports to the V.P. of Finance and Operations.

Position Requirements:

• Professional and calm demeanor.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent computer & analytical skills, database experience a plus.
• Skills in MS office especially Word and Excel, G/L systems.
• Social media and content management.
• Mature, outgoing personality with strong inter-personal communication skills.
• Energetic and self-motivated.
• Ability to troubleshoot as conflicts or problems arise whether it be in accounting systems or reconciliations.
• Applicant must function in a manner that is consistent with the mission and values of the parish, Roman Catholic Church and the Diocese of RVC.
• Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with strong knowledge of the Catholic Church.

Responsibilities:

• General Ledger entries for cash receipts, journal entries and disbursements.
• Reconciliation of bank statements to general ledger.
• Control receivables/payables – rents, deferred income, PayPal, and invoices.
• Reconciliations; credit cards and petty cash.
• Maintenance of financial records in good order.
• Attend board meetings, take minutes and distribute to members.
• Pull transcripts for past Seminary students.
• Social media: build strategy/awareness, enhance brand, post content, post events.
• Any other Seminary duties deemed necessary by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated success in an accounting role.
• Degree in accounting a plus.
• Demonstrated familiarity with Social Media.

Working Conditions:

• Business office hours 8am to 4:30pm.
• Evening and weekends as required for extracurricular events.
• Team atmosphere working toward the growth of the organization.

Salary Range:

$28 to $32 per hour commensurate with experience
