Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join our Cardiology and Neurology team. Working under the general supervision of the office manager and direct supervision of a licensed provider, the assistant supports both administrative and clinical functions in a team-based, integrative health environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms by disinfecting, stocking supplies, and ensuring availability of medications and vaccinations.

• Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing schedules and identifying gaps in care

• Escort patients to exam rooms and manage patient flow for efficiency.

• Collect and document patient data including vital signs, allergies, medications, and chief complaints.

• Retrieve and report diagnostic results (e.g., EKG, lab tests) and recognize abnormal findings.

• Confirm and clarify provider orders before executing delegated tasks.

• Collect, prepare, and process lab specimens for testing; maintain quality control logs.

• Assist with in-office procedures such as EKGs and holter monitors; schedule referrals and specialty services.

• Obtain prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic imaging.

• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth operations and resolve workflow obstacles.

Skills and Requirements

• Proficiency in clinical tasks such as phlebotomy and aseptic technique.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient care and team collaboration.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through to completion.

• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR), practice management, and scheduling systems.

• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or 3+ years of documented experience and successful completion of the CHS Medical Assistant Assessment.

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.

• Must have a car and be willing to travel to three different sites.
