Program Overview
Under the direction and guidance of the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL), the Consortium for Worker Education (CWE) will develop and implement a network of NYC workforce service providers to offer job training, credentialing, and placement in well-paying jobs to approximately 2,400 young workers.
At least 75% of the program’s participants will be out-of-school, unemployed, or underemployed young adults residing in zip codes impacted by high rates of gun violence. This initiative treats gun violence as a public health crisis, using both short-term solutions and long-term community-based intervention and prevention strategies to break cycles of violence. A key prevention component focuses on providing access to and readiness for meaningful careers.
