Development Accountant

We are working with a commercial real estate developer looking to hire a Development Accountant.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and manage accounting records for multiple real estate development projects
• Track development budgets, project costs, and funding sources, ensuring expenses align with approved budgets
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analyses for development projects
• Monitor construction draws, process draw requests, and coordinate with lenders and investors on funding
• Record and reconcile project-related transactions including capital contributions, loan activity, and development expenditures
• Work with development and construction teams to track commitments, contracts, and change orders
• Ensure compliance with loan agreements, partnership agreements, and reporting requirements
• Support audits, tax preparation, and year-end financial reporting related to development entities
• Maintain project documentation and ensure proper accounting treatment for development costs and capitalized expenses

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate development
• Strong understanding of development budgets, construction draws, and project cost tracking
• Experience with real estate accounting software (Yardi, MRI, etc)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
