Postdoctoral Fellow Salary: 74,602 Department: Neuroscience Physical work location: 1425 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10029 Name PI or Supervisor: Roland Friedel Web link to Lab: Web link to Department: Administrative Contact: Nana [email protected] Responsibilities Details of Research Project: Invasive behavior of malignant brain cancer cells is one of the main obstacles in glioblastoma (GBM). A postdoctoral position is available to study the role of axon guidance molecules in driving invasion and infiltrative growth of GBM cells. By combining genetic manipulations, in vivo transplantation models, transcriptomics, coupled with innovative microchannel devices and time-lapse videography, we aim at uncovering novel mechanisms underlying tumor cell migration and invasion into the brain. The Friedel laboratory is surrounded by a rich research environment in the Department of Neuroscience and is part of the Friedman Brain Institute at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Mount Sinai is committed to excellence in education, research, and patient care, applying a unique blend of scientific training and mentoring for postdoctoral fellows in a supportive environment Technical Duties: (include any protocols) To perform research to investigate the role of glial cells in tumor microenvironment, such as astrocytes and microglia, as well as biomechanical factors in influencing mechanical plasticity and migratory potential of brain tumor cells. Qualifications Educational and other Requirements for the position: PhD or MD with a strong track record of publication and experience in neurodevelopment, molecular techniques, cancer biology, or related areas. Successful candidates should have strong communication/written skills. Experience Required 0 yr Goals/Outcomes Of The Research Project This is a basic research project to define contribution of glial cells to brain tumor progression. Publication in a high impact journal is expected. Compensation Statement The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,692.00 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
