Scope of Position
The candidate will be involved with assessing reliability of polymeric materials, particularly with regards to polymer rheology, polymer characterization, and failure mode analysis. The candidate will do hands-on mechanical testing and failure mode analysis. It will also require innovation around creative and novel testing methodologies.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Performing testing methodologies on polymer rheology, polymer mechanics, and failure-mode analysis.
- Conducting material/process/design assessment for fundamental understanding or trade and commerce testing and evaluation of performance vs failure modes.
- Performing fractographic and failure mode analysis.
- Identifying, evaluating, and implementing potential improvements to product/material performance. Engaging in projects in various capacities.
- Working with research teams and other internal resources to implement new characterization techniques based on customer requirements to improve product performance.
- Compiling, analyzing and presenting results and recommendations on product/process.
- Making recommendations to projects to improve functional performance and reliability.
- Identifying and quantifying reliability risks.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor degree with 0-3 years experience
- Ability to define and deconstruct the problem, develop knowledge/methods/testing.
- Experience with characterization testing and analysis of materials.
- Understanding of measurement techniques to conduct analysis.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Understanding of the physics of failure.
- We expect you to have general knowledge and training in the broad areas of materials behavior and failure prevention.

The range for this position is $69,134.00 - $95,060.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
