Environmental Services Director

The Environmental Services Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Environmental Services Department within the nursing home. This role ensures a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct and oversee all environmental services functions, including housekeeping, laundry, and facility cleanliness.
• Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies, procedures, schedules, and work standards.
• Ensure compliance with all infection prevention and control practices, including proper cleaning, disinfecting, and waste disposal protocols.
• Conduct routine inspections of the facility to ensure cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance; address deficiencies promptly.
• Manage departmental staffing, including hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies, equipment, and chemicals; ensure proper storage, usage, and safety data compliance.
• Collaborate with nursing, maintenance, dietary, and administrative departments to support resident care and facility operations.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and in safe working condition.
• Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and safety committee meetings as required.
• Respond promptly and professionally to resident, family, and staff concerns related to environmental services.
• Stay current with regulatory changes, best practices, and industry standards related to long-term care environmental services.

Physical and Working Conditions:

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the facility as required.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment, with appropriate safety measures in place.
• May require occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call availability.
