Scroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. The ideal candidate will protect, promote, and optimize health and abilities, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses while advocating for the care of individuals and families. The RN will ensure compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, nursing policies, and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. In this role, you will work to promote a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Job Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care while managing a group of patients.
- Serve as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, considering safety, effectiveness, competency, and cost in patient care.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Administer medications safely in accordance with nursing policies.
- Contribute to the efficient utilization of resources, including staffing and supplies.
- Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Participate actively in the Nursing Shared Governance Model and support unit councils and improvement initiatives.
- Engage in professional development and complete all mandatory education requirements.
- Integrate current evidence and nursing research into everyday practice.
- Support a learning environment for new employees and nursing students.
- Uphold the organization's values and perform other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of three (3) years of current emergency department experience as a traveler.
- Strong knowledge and experience in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care.
- Proficient in Epic or similar electronic health record systems.
- Excellent collaboration, communication (verbal and written), judgment, critical thinking, organization, planning, problem-solving, and reliability skills.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Current New York State RN License.
- BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- Additional unit-specific certifications as required.
