: Supervising Paralegal

Location : New York Metropolitan Area

Reports to : Director of Legal Services

Pay Range: $89,000 - $90,000 per year

FLSA Status : Exempt

Status : Full-time (35 hour per week)


Role Summary
: Oversees program delivery and supervision of Paralegals to ensure services adhere to program standards and are well integrated throughout all aspects of program. Additionally, provides support to Assistant Directors of the Housing Department to develop service plans to ensure permanent and stable housing and access to community sources.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties :

The Supervising Paralegal of Legal Services is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Runs the day-to-day operations of the program.
  • Oversees the program staff.
  • Establishes and monitor quality assurance of program goals in compliance with agency and contract expectations.
  • Monitors program’s contractual compliance and meets with contract manager during site visits.
  • Completes annual performance reviews for supervised staff.
  • Acts as a conduit with funding source when needed.
  • Supervises and evaluates staff performance, providing quarterly written feedback.
  • Provides staff training, when necessary, on program goals and duties as well as the expectations of the agency
  • Meets bi-weekly with Executive Director & Director of Legal and other senior staff to exchange ideas and provide feedback on the programs.
  • Meets twice a month with the fully supervised staff and once a month with the entire NAICA staff.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Directors.
  • Attending meetings, educational conferences, and in-service training.
  • Maintains current and accurate documentation, progress notes, and data tools both physically and electronically.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Time management skills and prioritization required.
  • Interacts with other departmental staff necessary.
  • Performs general clerical duties.
  • Develops and maintains contacts in the community for referral purposes.
  • Develops and maintains effective communication with other programs and units within the organization to facilitate inter-agency referrals.
  • Provides coverage for other areas as directed/needed.

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.
  • Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to travel to different locations within New York City, as needed.


Work Environment / Schedule Requirements
:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position. While standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, exempt employees are expected to work the hours necessary to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on organizational needs, deadlines, or events.

Qualifications :

  • A Bachelor’s Degree issued from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience, two (2) years of which shall have been in a responsible administrative or legal capacity or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience in a legal setting or with comparable experience in a similar setting; OR
  • An Associate Degree with four (4) or more years of relevant experience; OR,
  • A High School Diploma/General Equivalent Diploma and ten (10) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to manage stressful environment(s).
  • Resolute team building skills needed.
  • Professional ethics and integrity.
  • Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak, read and write in Spanish.
  • Superb and meticulous diligence
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
  • Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
  • This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.
