Automotive Parts Manager – Dealership

VIP Automotive Group is one of Long Island’s most successful and respected automotive dealership groups , known for strong leadership, operational excellence, and a customer‑first culture. We are experiencing continued growth and are seeking an experienced Automotive Parts Manager to lead a high-performing dealership parts department.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a results-driven Parts Manager with a strong background in dealership operations, inventory control, wholesale parts, staff leadership, and profitability management.
Position SummaryThe Automotive Parts Manager is responsible for maximizing profitability on dealership capital investment in parts inventory while overseeing purchasing, inventory management, wholesale parts sales, staff development, merchandising, and operational efficiency . This role works closely with Service and Body Shop leadership to ensure optimal parts availability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and forecast departmental goals, KPIs, and growth strategies
- Lead, hire, train, coach, and performance-manage all parts department employees
- Prepare, control, and monitor the annual parts department operating budget
- Maintain balanced inventory supporting service, collision, wholesale, and retail customers
- Establish strategic pricing to drive gross profit and customer retention
- Reduce obsolescence through inventory analysis and purchasing controls
- Ensure accurate tagging and tracking of parts for full factory credit
- Supervise stock orders and enforce special-order procedures
- Analyze monthly sales, expense, and inventory performance reports
- Build and expand a high-volume wholesale parts operation
- Deliver superior internal and external customer service standards
- Collaborate with Service and Body Shop Managers for workflow efficiency
- Conduct weekly department meetings and attend dealership management meetings
- Oversee shipping, receiving, and daily parts department operations
- Track lost sales and implement corrective improvement strategies
- Handle escalated customer concerns professionally and promptly
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, MSDS, and dealership safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- 2+ years of Automotive Dealership Parts Management experience (required)
- Proven success driving parts sales growth, profitability, and operational efficiency
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Hands-on experience with inventory control, forecasting, and purchasing
- Knowledge of wholesale parts programs and dealership operations
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical abilities
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local compliance regulations
- Dealer Management System (DMS) experience preferred
