Prep Cook
Mắm NYC is looking for a reliable, hardworking Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.
We are a Vietnamese restaurant in NYC focused on thoughtful food, strong hospitality, and maintaining the quality and traditions behind Vietnamese cooking. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works cleanly and efficiently, and wants to grow with the kitchen team.
Responsibilities- Prepare ingredients according to recipes and daily prep lists
- Properly portion, label, store, and rotate ingredients
- Assist with sauces, stocks, marinades, vegetables, proteins, and other kitchen preparations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist cooks and the kitchen team during service when needed
- Receive and properly store deliveries
- Minimize food waste and maintain proper inventory levels
- Communicate clearly with chefs and other members of the kitchen team
- Complete daily prep and cleaning duties consistently and on time
- At least 1 year of professional kitchen/prep cook experience
- Availability early mornings
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant preferred
- Vietnamese food experience is a plus, but not required
- Strong knife skills and basic cooking knowledge
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and prep lists accurately
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Strong attention to cleanliness and organization
- Positive attitude and ability to work respectfully as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Salaried position
