Assistant Baker
Job Description:
Bagel Joint is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Baker to join our team. As Assistant Baker, you will work closely with the Head Baker to produce our signature bagels and pastries, ensuring high-quality products are available to our customers each morning. This is an excellent opportunity for a night owl who loves baking, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys working as part of a team to deliver delicious baked goods.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Baker in preparing, baking, and finishing bagels and pastries according to Bagel Joint's recipes and standards.
- Ensure that all baked goods (challah, babka, bialys, and rugelach) are produced on time each morning before opening and meet the company’s quality guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including the kitchen and baking areas.
- Operate bakery equipment such as ovens and bagel kettle safely and efficiently.
- Monitor inventory and report shortages or issues with ingredients or supplies to the Head Baker.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the kitchen meets health regulations.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in baking, preferably in a bakery or bagel shop
- Ability to work overnight and early morning hours.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- A positive attitude, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
