Assistant Buyer
Job Description:
Assistant Buyer
Port Chester, NY (Hybrid)
Zachys Wine International
Identify opportunities for new products and producers within assigned categories
Research consumer trends and market demand
Develop and maintain supplier relationships to optimize supply chain performance
Analyze product pricing and positioning
Manage item setup and purchase order creation
Monitor inventory levels, sales performance, and category health
Maintain strong inventory turnover while operating within budget Vendor Management
Negotiate product costs and payment terms
Monitor and manage lead times and delivery schedules
Source and evaluate new vendors as needed Purchase Order Management
Create and maintain items and pricing for assigned product lines
Generate, update, and manage purchase orders for all buyers Sales Support & Education
Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned categories
Partner with Private Client Services and Retail teams
Support internal training and product education initiatives Marketing Support
Collaborate with Marketing on promotional calendar planning and execution
Contribute insights for email campaigns and marketing initiatives
Manage and organize supplier-provided marketing assets Qualifications
Education & Knowledge
Strong knowledge of wine (required)
Foreign language skills are a plus Experience
Minimum 2 years of buying experience in the wine and spirits industry
Experience in high-volume B2C environments (fine wine & spirits preferred) Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with NetSuite is a plus Work Hours: Hybrid- 3 Days in Port Chester Office (Tuesday-Thursday)
