BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical Senior Parks Worker duties include advanced operation of heavy equipment, carriage road and roadway maintenance, heavy truck and commercial vehicle operation, utility installation and repair, hazardous tree removal and pruning, snow and ice management, and infrastructure maintenance throughout the property. This role serves as a lead worker, providing direction, technical expertise, and support while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of all assignments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment including tractors without implements, bucket loaders, twin-axle vehicles with and without dump beds, bulldozers, graders, snowplows, chainsaws, trimmers, compactors, pole saws, snow blowers, rollers, excavators, and skid steers.
- Pick up, transport, and properly dispose of trash and recyclable materials from receptacles throughout the property.
- Use hand tools such as shovels, pruners, rakes, pitchforks, wheelbarrows, hoses, tampers, and related equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and structures including buildings, fences, walls, culverts, and benches using hand and power tools.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL license.
- Safely operate chainsaws and perform tree felling, cutting, bucking, and processing into firewood.
- Work collaboratively with staff to maintain the integrity, safety, and appearance of assigned work areas.
- Inspect, clean, service, and maintain all tools, equipment, and assigned Parks assets in safe and operable condition.
- Assist with stacking, loading, transporting, and storing hay and related materials.
- Demonstrate highly efficient and precise operation of excavators, loaders, skid steers, and related heavy equipment.
- Assist the Parks Foreman in the construction, installation, coordination, and completion of various property improvement and infrastructure projects.
- Maintain drainage systems and perform repairs to culverts, retaining walls, and related infrastructure throughout the property.
- Safely back trailers and maneuver equipment unassisted.
- Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, policies, and operating procedures.
- Possess knowledge of below-grade water and sewer line installation, repairs, hookups, and maintenance.
- Support other departments in completing related operational and property maintenance tasks as needed.
- Coordinate the use, maintenance, repair, and safe operation of Parks and Grounds vehicles and equipment with the Parks Foreman and grounds staff.
- Maintain roadway, carriage road, and trail surfaces to ensure they remain smooth, clean, safe, and free of debris and hazards.
- Develop or apply proficiency in the operation of graders and bulldozers.
- Perform snow and ice removal operations during winter weather to keep roadways, walkways, and access areas safe and accessible using plows, blowers, salt spreaders, and shovels.
- Remain on-call year-round for storm response and emergency property needs.
- Keep road edges, trails, and work areas clear of branches, grasses, debris, and other obstructions.
- Contribute positively to staff morale and maintain a cooperative, team-oriented attitude.
- Operate vehicles safely in compliance with Mohonk Mountain House Traffic Rules and Regulations.
- Work productively and efficiently with or without supervision while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House Dress and Grooming Standards, maintaining a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
- Learn and successfully demonstrate Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps and Service Strategies with guests and staff.
- Learn and retain knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
- Adhere to all Mohonk Mountain House policies and procedures.
- Act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Analyze problems and develop and implement effective action plans to resolve operational and maintenance issues.
- Ensure the safety of guests, employees, contractors, and self at all times.
- Inspect work for quality and safety compliance using sight, sound, touch, and smell as appropriate.
- Communicate clearly in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
- Perform physical duties including reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Lift up to 100 pounds from ground level to 36 inches with or without assistance, lift 30 pounds overhead, carry loads up to 75 feet, and walk up to seven miles per day.
- Safely maneuver carts or dollies carrying loads up to 200 pounds through stairs, elevators, passageways, and outdoor terrain.
- Maintain close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision, with ability to adjust focus.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions including rain, snow, heat, cold, wind, and exposure to natural elements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for assigned tasks.
- Maintain high attention to detail and strong safety awareness.
- Maintain clean, organized, and orderly job sites and Parks and Grounds storage areas.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and peak business periods.
- Interact with staff and guests in a consistently professional and courteous manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Driver’s License and at least 21 years of age, or 20 years of age with at least two years of licensed driving experience.
- Class A CDL
- Previous property management experience preferred.
- Experienced equipment operator
