The Chemung County Department of Social Services is currently hiring for the position of Social Welfare Examiner. This is a meaningful career opportunity where you can support families in need by helping determine their eligibility for public assistance programs.
As a Social Welfare Examiner, you’ll:

• Interview applicants and gather necessary documentation
• Evaluate financial eligibility for benefits
• Review applications and case records
• Use multiple computer systems to verify information
• Ensure compliance with agency policies and state regulations

Job Details:

• Salary: $21.51 per hour
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM (35-hour work week)
• Location: Chemung County, NY
• Civil Service Position (requires application through Chemung County Civil Service)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Either: A)Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant an Associate’s Degree or

B) Graduation from high school or possession of a general equivalency diploma and three (3) years of clerical experience in an office setting.

REQUIREMENTS:

Submission to FBI fingerprinting

Submission of new employee information through the E-Verify system to verify that the employee may be legally hired within the United States (USCIS Form I-9)

Passing of a Physical and Drug screen

Submission to a Special Investigations Unit Check
