Preschool Lead Teacher

Thank you for your interest in Scarsdale Community Baptist Nursery School. We promote a caring environment where children are supported to be the best they can be. In our classes we teach the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills needed to prepare the children for kindergarten and beyond. This is done through play-based classroom routines which will include a variety of expressions: storytelling, literacy, math, science, and artistic exploration.

We are looking for a Preschool Head Teacher for our 2s class, who will create a loving and safe environment for our children. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Develop and carry out age-appropriate lesson plans, communicate with parents, assess student progress, assist taking children to the bathroom, supervise classroom staff.

Our preschool program runs from September to June and is currently a half day program.

This position is part-time. Works hours will be 8:30am-12:30pm.

Responsibilities for Preschool Lead Teacher

· Ensure the safety of all the children at all times

· Develop weekly lesson plans that incorporate music & movement, free play, circle time activities, and small/large group activities.

· Assist with taking children to the bathroom.

· Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school related events

· Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress, behavior and any concerns.

· Meet with parents twice a year (January & May) to discuss their child’s progress.

· Supervise and mentor classroom staff, including assistants and substitute teachers.

· Ensure parents are signing their children in and out each day.

· Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree

· Minimum of two years’ experience teaching young children in a preschool or daycare setting.

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with parents and staff.

· Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to achieve common goals.

· Must have a core appreciation and love for teaching, exploring, and communicating with children.

· Must be capable of managing a group of children with varied dispositions positively and respectfully in various situations.

· Must have the specific, knowledge based competencies (stages of child development and learning styles, age-appropriate activities, etc.) required to perform the job’s functions.

· Obtain certifications in Pediatric First Aid and CPR within 6 months of employment if you are not already certified.

Salary: $20,000/year (10 months)
