Client Pricing and Budget Analyst

Hecker Fink LLP is seeking a Client Pricing and Budget Analyst to work in our New York office, reporting to the firm’s Senior Manager of Revenue, to assist with billing rate analysis and alternative fee arrangements, billing, collection, and realization reporting, client and matter budgeting, and special projects. Qualified applicants will be proactive, self-motivated, and enthusiastic and will have rate analysis and client budget experience, preferably at a law firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete billing rate and alternative fee arrangement analyses for pricing proposals based on matter performance models or other criteria.
  • Create client or matter budgets as requested, various billing, collections, and realization reporting, and special projects.
  • Use software applications to effectively, timely and accurately provide data, reports, and metrics on a weekly/monthly/quarterly and ad hoc basis.
  • Proactively monitor client and matter budgets and flag as needed for follow up. Contribute to the preparation of various presentations for executive leadership.
  • Use analytical skills and expert knowledge of business, economics, finance, and accounting to complete complex and routine requests regarding clients, budgets, and overall financial performance.
  • Work concurrently with the Senior Manager of Revenue and Chief Financial Officer to design revenue related reports.
  • Work concurrently with the Senior Manager of Revenue, Chief Financial Officer, and engagement partner to engage client contacts in periodic rate and budget discussions.
  • Collaborate with partners and counsel along with members of the billing and collection team to develop and implement alternative fee arrangement methodologies.
  • Complete other special projects as assigned.



Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a combination of employment, education, and life experience that demonstrates the qualities and skills below:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, and at least three years of experience in financial analyses and/or a closely related field, preferably at a law firm.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understanding financial concepts, statements, and analyses.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required. Strong expertise in Excel modeling and robust computational skills. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using Aderant, or other law firm financial software, and have experience with large datasets and the maturity required to handle highly confidential data.
  • Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: You express yourself clearly and concisely, always highlighting the most important information. You show great accuracy, attention to detail and good organizational skills. You proactively communicate the status of your work and share updates with colleagues when necessary. You ensure that your work is mistake free.
  • Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential attorney, personnel, and Firm matters.
  • Flexibility: You are versatile and possess the ability to multi-task with ease. You are able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. You are comfortable in an environment where your responsibilities may vary from day to day. You demonstrate a “no job too big, no job too small” attitude, and take a collaborative, team-focused approach to rejuggling priorities and contributing to Firm tasks.

You proactively anticipate, communicate, and work to independently resolve obstacles you encounter in your work.You work well both independently and on a team and are able to establish and maintain strong working relationships with employees, clients, and professionals.

In addition, the successful candidate will be based in the New York area or willing to relocate and will be available to work 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a hybrid position.


Compensation: The expected base salary for this role ranges from $135,000 - $150,000 and is dependent on experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications, or other professional licenses held.
