POSITION SUMMARY: The General Manager of Rigor Hill Market (RHM) is responsible for directing and overseeing all front of house operations to ensure it runs smoothly on a daily basis, best practices are in place to drive revenue and profitability, and act as the leader to drive the culture and morale of the team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following and may change or be adjusted at any time:

  • Works with the Market Manager and Director of Operations in setting the direction of RHM in day to day operations
  • Manage daily reporting of FOH labor, including managing timesheets and sales reports
  • Responsible for hiring the FOH team, ensuring a smooth and compliant onboarding process, as well as all training to get the team started on the right track
  • Ordering all smallwares, disposables, FOH cleaning supplies in line with operating budgets
  • Assisting in curating retail items for the RHM shelves
  • Assisting in curating and executing the catering program
  • Manages FOH schedule; ensures the FOH is properly staffed and in line with labor cost goals
  • Handles all FOH staff responsibilities in partnership with the HR team (includes: onboarding, training and development, employee relations, disciplinary action, documentation, terminations, etc.)
  • Shares all repair and maintenance responsibilities for the restaurant coordinating with the DOO and/or Managing Partners for approval on spending
  • Works directly with kitchen team in order to promote a strong and unified leadership dynamic—breaking barriers of separation between FOH and BOH
  • Responsible for for developing a strong, positive, hospitality-driven culture within the walls of RHM both for employees and guests
  • Oversees the FOH team, ensuring that they are performing up to standard
  • Responsible for holding daily team meetings when necessary
  • Oversees organization, efficiency and policies pertaining to service
  • Balances admin responsibilities with service responsibilities
  • Enhances and strengthens guest relationships, established and new, to ensure RHM becomes a valued part of the Tribeca neighborhood and community
  • Promotes cooperative effort, a team spirit, good morale and positive culture among employees
  • Resolves complaints from guests in a polite, friendly manner always making sure we follow up with them when needed
  • Managing guest reviews online and responding with resolution
  • Ensures the entire space looks, and feels great in all guest facing and staff areas
  • Participates in training about standardized policies (HR, fire, hygiene, health, safety, employee handbook, etc.)
  • Manage upkeep of FOH training materials, working collaboratively with the Director of Operations to ensure service standards are communicated are upheld
  • Helps with duties of other employees when necessary, working as an active member of service. Taking care of guests and working the register during busy periods
  • Responsible for ensuring that all server check outs and restaurant closing duties are performed on a daily basis to standards
  • Maintain a strong understanding of company background, core values and philosophy
  • Adhere to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures
  • Obtain certification from The NYS Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to be flexible with job demands and open minded when being asked to complete tasks
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the restaurant
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure
  • Ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant generally weighing 0-50 pounds
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
  • Ability to stand for up to 8-10 hours a day
