CABVI is seeking a Product Manager to Develops, plans and organizes product line from concept through product cycle to include but not limited to product specifications, pricing, labor, marketing, sales, deletion and addition to achieve maximize job creation and profitability.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Determine customer needs and desired products/product specifications to obtain product line growth and market share.
- Bring new products to market by analyzing value added labor opportunities, product material costs, anticipated customer sales channels and volumes, competitive pricing.
- Work with Product Development Manager to submit applicable documents for product addition, price changes, product changes, etc. for Preferred Source and AbilityOne set-aside programs.
- Closely interacts with various departments to quickly resolve product issues.
- Act as internal product expert to address any technical product support needed.
- Conduct internal product implementation meetings and product training.
- Work with appropriate personnel both internal and external to develop product marketing strategies and sales efforts, including making sales calls to current and potential customers with or without associated sales staff including – NYSPSP, NIB, vendor partners and CABVI members.
- Provide short term and long-term product line development plans to senior management.
- Conduct annual product evaluations reviewing cost, sell price, sales volumes, inventories, supply sources, value added employment opportunities and product line risk. Provide and present recommendations and corrective actions to various departments (Production, Warehouse, Inventory Control, Procurement Manager, and Quality Control) on ways to increase employment opportunities, increase profitability and reduce risk. Execute on the corrective actions agreed upon by departments.
- Work closely with the quality department to establish product specifications, tolerances, and quality inspection processes/corrective actions.
- Analyze inventory turnover, market trends, and customer demand to ensure product availability while detouring from overstock or obsolete inventory.
- Responsible for product line raw and finished material requisition planning and execution by utilizing MRP tools and the submission of requisition to Central Industries Purchasing Clerk for purchase order creation.
- Collaborate with Procurement Manager and Quality Control on the Identification and evaluation of potential supply sources to ensure establishment has appropriate infrastructure to support product line viability including value added labor opportunities, product quality, pricing, compliancy with state, federal, and ethical regulations. This may include the need to travel to supply partners for evaluations.
- Collaborate with Procurement Manager to develop strategies on best practices for negotiating product costs, product delivery terms and timeframes, and product standards and quality resolution.
- Continuously update product records in ticketing systems, shared folders, and reports to ensure easy retrieval of product line information and access by authorized personnel.
- Initiate purchase order cancellation, product return and/or credit, notifying and collaborating with various departments including - Production, Warehouse, Inventory Control and Procurement Manger, and Quality Control
- Assist Procurement Manager with accounts payable discrepancy resolution as associated with product line.
- Determine initial product pricing through market research, material and production costs, freight, and other associated expenses. Has the authority to offer discount pricing based on volume and sales growth strategy.
- Ensure all products within product line fulfills ISO standards and policies.
- Adapt to change and completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Consistently achieves annual performance objective
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree and at least two years of related experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable regarding databases and spreadsheets and have excellent mathematical skills and ability to interpret specifications. Must be willing to learn new technology.
- Must understand laws and regulations of state and federal agencies including JWOD and state use programs.
- Must be able to get along well and build relationships with a variety of personality types in a variety of positions.
- Must be skillful in presenting information and responding to questions from a wide variety of constituencies including vendors and customers. Must write effective objectives, proposals, plans, reports and general correspondence.
- In house position with occasional travel.
