Corporate Vice President - MLOps Lead SRE role

 

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week

Role Overview:
New York Life’s AI and Data team delivers innovative data, insights, and AI solutions for the organization. Our AI team works on a diverse portfolio of AI and GenAI projects, combining agile and entrepreneurial drive with industry-leading methods and tools. Fully supported by executive leadership, we collaborate closely with Business Partners from ideation through to production deployment. Our team includes product managers, data scientists, MLOps engineers, program managers, model validation & governance, and communications & development groups.
You will lead the building and maintenance of a platform that enables the development and deployment of AI & Data solutions. This includes developing and maintaining an industry-leading MLOps tech stack.

What You’ll Do:

Build and support the MLOps platform.

Support Data Scientists/ML Engineers and Data Engineers in implementing efficient, secure, and scalable CI/CD pipelines.

Implement architectural patterns for on-prem and cloud data/ML pipelines and solutions.

Build strong relationships and partner with IT stakeholders for system integrations and deployments.

Act as a platform expert and contribute to solution design and implementation decisions.

Work independently with minimal supervision in a collaborative team environment.

Collaborate with the Scrum Master to create user stories and define milestones.

Effectively communicate ideas to diverse audiences.

Stay current with emerging MLOps technologies and continuously improve the platform.

What You’ll Bring:

10+ years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in a technical lead role.

Expert-level experience with AWS and proficiency in Terraform.

Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and orchestration tools like Airflow.

Experience working with data teams and automating ML/data-intensive workflows.

Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevSecOps best practices.

Excellent Git knowledge (e.g., branching strategies, Jenkins integration, PR process).

Proficient in SQL and RDBMS systems.

Experience supporting both real-time and batch inference systems.

Agile mindset.

Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with ML frameworks such as sklearn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.

Experience with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Redshift, Snowflake).

Experience with architecture, design patterns, and scaling optimization.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $144,000-$205,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
