Chief Financial Officer (FT)
- Acts in an advisory capacity to the President & CEO.
- Oversees the development, implementation and on-going monitoring of financial goals and objectives for the organization.
- Develops credibility for the finance department by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends to assist the President & CEO and the Board and other senior executives and managers in performing their responsibilities.
- Represents the Affiliate in all financial dealings including, but not limited to, accounting firm performing affiliate annual audit and auditors from funding sources.
- Supports the Board's Budget and Finance Committee, Investment Advisory Committee and Audit and Compliance Committee to formulate financial policy and periodically review the financial status of the organization. Per the direction of the Investment Advisory Committee, oversees affiliate's investment portfolio in connection with President & CEO and investment manager.
- Prepares monthly financial statements that meet accounting standards and PPFA guidelines.
- Develops and monitors the Operating, Capital and Cash budgets.
- Oversee affiliate's insurance policies in collaboration with Director of Regulatory and Compliance
- Assures compliance with all reporting regulations of both governmental and private funding sources.
- Monitors and evaluates work performance and establishes goals for vice presidents, directors and managers reporting to this position.
- Provides leadership for the Finance and Revenue Cycle teams.
- Provides direct supervision and programmatic support for the Vice President, Finance, Director, Revenue Cycle, Inventory and Purchasing Manager and Administrative Assistant. Assists same in developing work plans and monitoring performance. As necessary, recommends candidates for these positions to the President & CEO.
- In collaboration with the President & CEO and other members of Sr. Management, advises, negotiates, manages and administers contracts into which the Affiliate may enter.
- In collaboration with the President & CEO Reviews and authorizes all affiliate payments to vendors, as well as personnel paychecks.
- Serves as a member of the Senior Management and Leadership Teams; assumes responsibility after-hours AIC, as scheduled.
- Responsible for placing and monitoring affiliate insurance needs in collaboration with the Director of Regulatory and Compliance.
- In collaboration with the appropriate stakeholders, oversees the preparation of all grant applications and reimbursement systems.
- As a Division Head, reviews edits and approves all salary offers, staff performance evaluations, merit increases, PIPs, and other performance measures for Finance and Revenue Cycle.
- As Division Head, reviews and approves all requisitions for personnel, payroll authorizations, purchase orders, check requests, travel expense vouchers, and vacation carryover requests for assigned departments in accordance with the related authorization matrices.
- Reviews and approves all time sheets (electronically or manually) and time off requests for direct reports.
- Maintains active working relationships with the PPFA, Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts, and with peers working in other affiliates, to efficiently keep PPHP current with ongoing business initiatives and industry trends.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
- Represents PPHP and its policies to the community, speaking publicly as needed.
- Assumes additional responsibilities and performs other duties as delegated by the President & CEO.
- Regularly checks personal PPHP email account for important affiliate-related communications, at least every 24 hours.
- Assume responsibility as after-hours administrator in charge (AIC) for the entire affiliate.
- Experience, Education and Licensure.
- An experienced leader and financial executive with health care experience.
- An energetic, “straight shooter” with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
- A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.
- Master's degree required (preferably MBA); 10 years progressively responsible financial management experience in not-for-profit affiliate or corporate setting, with health care finance leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of Revenue Cycle, Revenue integrity and revenue recognition.
- Strong commitment to the mission, policies, goals and philosophy of Planned Parenthood.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office products, specifically strong Excel skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Ability and willingness to travel to and visit Centers and affiliate and community meetings.
- Preferably maintains membership in a professional association such as HFMA (Healthcare Financial Management Association) to remain current on healthcare rules, regulations and trends.
