ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Sales Manager to lead and grow our East Coast sales operations within the Food & Beverage/FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry. This is a fully remote role, with a strong preference for candidates based in New York or New Jersey, our most strategic and high-impact market. The Sales Manager will work from a home office and travel occasionally throughout the East Coast territory to support distributors, brokers, and key customers.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with distributors, brokers, and direct customers, and understands how to drive distribution, manage inventory, execute trade promotions, and strengthen brand presence across a large, multi-state region.

TERRITORY COVERAGE

This role is responsible for sales activities across the following states and jurisdictions:

Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Note: The states listed represent the general scope of the East Coast territory and are not intended to require active presence in every jurisdiction. The Sales Manager is expected to proactively identify, evaluate, and pursue growth opportunities across the region as market dynamics and business potentials emerge.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Relationship Management

  • Own and manage all aspects of relationships with distributors, brokers, and direct customers across the US East Coast, serving as a trusted commercial partner while proactively leading the resolution of disputes and alignment with internal stakeholders to ensure strong customer outcomes.
  • Own and achieve the annual distributor and direct customer sales budget for the territory.
  • Plan, manage, and execute the annual Trade Promotion Calendar and Trade Spend Budget.
  • Ensure effective inventory management, minimizing out-of-stocks and avoiding overstocking at the distributor and customer level.
  • Manage compliance with Distributor Agreements, including pricing, terms, and execution standards.
  • Coordinate and support execution of all Marketing programs, promotions, and new product launches.
  • Conduct regular market visits to maximize product distribution, shelf placement, merchandising, and brand visibility.

Reporting, Forecasting & Planning

  • Develop monthly sales forecasts, business performance reviews, and inventory reports.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly sales updates summarizing market visits, customer activity, and key issues.
  • Contribute to annual budget development and long-term strategic planning presentations.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, project updates, and presentations, as required.

Market Intelligence & Business Development

  • Monitor and analyze market, competitive, pricing, promotional, and new product activity, staying current on industry, channel, and consumer trends within the Food & Beverage/FMCG space.
  • Translate market and competitive insights into actionable recommendations and proactively share them with Sales and Marketing to inform strategy and execution.
  • Identify new business, channel, and distribution opportunities to expand sales networks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT (REMOTE)

This position operates in a remote, home-office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, mobile phones, and video conferencing tools. The employee is expected to maintain a professional and productive remote workspace suitable for regular virtual meetings and business communications.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This role allows for some flexibility in scheduling; however, employees are generally expected to be available during core business hours of 9:00 am to 5:30pm (EST) to support distributors, customers, and internal teams. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs, customer demands, or travel schedules.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires up to 50% travel throughout the East Coast territory. Travel is mainly local but may occasionally require overnight stays.
A valid driver’s license is required. Travel expectations are considered an essential function of the role.

  • The role primarily involves sitting and working at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching may be required during market visits, retail audits, trade shows, or distributor meetings.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift or move materials such as product samples or marketing materials, generally up to 10 pounds, and infrequently up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus, particularly when reviewing product displays, shelf placement, or sales materials.

QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY

Required Education, Experience & Competencies

  • 5+ years of field sales experience in the FMCG, grocery, and/or Food & Beverage industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-state territories and working directly with customers, distributors, and/or brokers.
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese).
  • Experience supporting trade promotions, retail execution, and new product launches.
  • Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive results and meet sales objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, paired with sound professional judgment.
  • High attention to detail with effective time and priority management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment while managing a large geographic territory.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel in assigned territory and transport others as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Distributor and/or broker management experience within FMCG or Food & Beverage.
  • Prior experience working with grocery, mass retail, specialty, or food service channels.

Work Authorization & Travel Eligibility

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to travel domestically and occasionally to Canada for business purposes.
  • Must meet company travel and driving requirements, including maintaining a satisfactory driving record, where permitted by law.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 USD + Discretionary Bonus (based on individual and company performance).

Note: Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
