Somssi is a restaurant in Greenwich Village, opened in June of 2026.

Developed in partnership with NA:EUN Hospitality, Somssi offers an approachable, neobistro-style menu of shareable plates, drawing from Asian and European ingredients, techniques, and immigrant nostalgia. The experience is complemented by a thoughtful beverage program, featuring a well-traveled wine list, sake, and playful “little beverages.”

Designed as a place of gathering, Somssi is warm, lively, and generous—where hospitality is rooted in genuine care, and both guests and team members feel a sense of belonging.

Job Description:

Responsible for executing thoughtful, well-paced service while maintaining strong fundamentals, attention to detail, and clear communication.

Core Responsibilities Beverage Execution

• Prepare all cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages according to Somssi's recipes and service standards.
• Execute beverage service with consistency, accuracy, and efficiency during every shift.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service.
• Complete daily opening, closing, and side work responsibilities.
• Assist with prep of syrups, garnishes, batched cocktails, and other bar mise en place.
• Alert management/Head Bartender of low inventory or product needs.

Service & Guest Experience

• Create a welcoming, engaging experience for guests seated at the bar.
• Guide guests through the beverage menu with warmth and confidence, helping them find drinks that suit their preferences.
• Maintain a calm, attentive presence during busy service while prioritizing hospitality.
• Work seamlessly with the dining room and kitchen teams to ensure a cohesive guest experience.
• Support the floor wherever needed, embracing a team-first mindset.

Product Knowledge

• Develop a strong understanding of Somssi's cocktail menu, wine list, beer selection, and non-alcoholic offerings.
• Learn the restaurant's food menu in order to make thoughtful beverage recommendations.
• Participate in tastings, staff education, and ongoing beverage training.

Professionalism & Teamwork

• Arrive prepared, on time, and ready for service.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates.
• Maintain all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment built around respect, curiosity, and hospitality.

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience in a high-quality restaurant or cocktail bar preferred.
• Strong knowledge of classic cocktails and fundamental bartending techniques.
• Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and guest engagement skills.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and continuous learning.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
