Salary Range:

$105,000.00 - $137,000.00

What’s the role?
Internal Audit (IA) provides assurance to the Board of Directors and Executive Management that Etsy’s businesses are well run and meeting strategic, operational and risk management goals.

We are searching for an IA Technology Senior Auditor who will engage with all Etsy teams, including senior leadership, to evaluate risk in product development, and technology processes; you will collaborate closely with Etsy's Engineering and Product teams, and other teams (Operations, Finance, Legal, Marketing, International, etc.) to improve and strengthen the overall technology environment at Etsy.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Internal Audit, Technology Audit Director. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office.   • Internal Audit (IA) provides assurance to the Board of Directors and Executive Management that Etsy’s businesses are well run and meeting strategic, operational and risk management goals.

  • IA provides independent, objective analysis & assessment of Etsy’s overall control environment.

  • The team is headed by the VP, Internal Audit & Internal Controls.

  • The IA team currently comprises the Technology Internal Audit Director and Technology Internal Audit Manager, as well as two team members on the non-technology audit side.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Partner with the Director to strategically plan and complete technology-focused internal audits, directly contributing to the successful completion of the annual audit plan.

  • Form relationships across the company, especially within Engineering and Product, to help identify emerging internal and external risks

  • Actively participate in and contribute to annual & continuous risk assessment activities

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of technology & integrated audits, from planning and scoping to fieldwork and reporting; including reviews of new and enhanced products and services, and process changes

  • Demonstrate a thorough grasp of software development lifecycles (SDLCs), modern programming structures, and complex technology flows, and their impact on downstream reporting and metrics

  • Assess the design and effectiveness of security controls; and the availability & performance of applications, infrastructure, and web operations environments

  • Design and implement tests around technology processes, including data analysis

  • Clearly communicate audit findings, risks, and pragmatic, data-backed remediation recommendations to management, encouraging a collaborative approach to improvement.

  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our internal audit methodology, including the development of audit templates, standards and guidelines

  • Prepare clear, high quality audit work papers to document procedures performed and conclusions reached

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Internal Audit experience in a public accounting or consulting practice, and/or a fast-growing company

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field

  • Certified CISA, CISSP or CISM preferred

  • Experience working alongside engineering and product teams and are familiar with general engineering concepts (e.g., PHP, web development, app development, database querying), as well as product concepts (e.g., product lifecycle management, user experience (UX) principles, A/B testing, product analytics, and agile development methodologies).

  • Strong IT auditing/consulting experience combined with a good knowledge of technology systems, architecture, and process & product design evaluation

  • Strong knowledge of technology audit principles and identifying/presenting exceptions

  • Familiarity with audit data analytics tools and techniques (e.g., ACL, Tableau, SQL queries, Python)

  • Strong understanding of technology risks and the ability to evaluate and determine adequacy and efficiency of risk mitigation

  • Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills

  • An understanding and working experience of relevant frameworks e.g., COBIT, NIST, IIA

  • Ability to effectively develop and maintain strong working relationships and collaborate with all levels of the company
