Animal Welfare & Integrity Veterinary Nurse Intern

The Location : Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Laboratory Animal Veterinary Intern to join our Animal Welfare and Integrity team in this full time, paid, summer internship. This will be a part‑remote / part‑onsite internship; qualified candidates should be available to spend approximately two to three days per week at our Germantown, NY site.

Starting Pay : $20.00 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range.

The Internship : The Laboratory Animal Veterinary Intern supports animal welfare assessments under the supervision of veterinary staff while receiving professional training, following established SOPs, assisting with data compilation, and participating in team meetings.

You can expect to do :

• Work with veterinary staff to assess animal welfare issues

• Evaluate anomalous animals and communicate findings to Animal Quality staff.

• Perform necropsies at facilities as needed and report findings to Animal Quality staff

• Provide training to technicians and caretakers in advanced technical procedures as needed.

• Perform literature searches and obtain reference materials as necessary in support of Animal Welfare and Integrity projects.

• Perform special projects as assigned and report findings.

• Perform training sessions with Laboratory Veterinary Nurse when needed.

• Perform vet rounds with Laboratory Veterinary Nurse.

• Other duties may be assigned.

Eligibility :
To be eligible for this opportunity you must:

• Be enrolled in a degree program in Animal Science, Veterinary Nurse, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field.
• Have completed at least one semester of related course work
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Have a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
