Collections Manager

Collections Manager
HRCCU is seeking an experienced and member-focused Collections Manager to lead our credit union collections team and oversee delinquency management, loss mitigation, and recovery efforts. This role is responsible for developing strategies that minimize losses while maintaining a respectful, solutions-oriented approach to supporting our members.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can balance risk management, regulatory compliance, and member experience while driving team performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor, lead, and coach the collections team
- Develop and execute strategies for:
- Early-stage delinquency
- Late-stage collections
- Charge-offs and recovery
- Monitor key performance metrics, including delinquency and recovery
- Identify trends and implement proactive solutions
- Ensure collections practices are respectful, compliant, and member-focused
- Oversee hardship programs, payment arrangements, and loss mitigation efforts
- Oversee daily collections activities and workflows
- Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and consumer protection laws
- Maintain audit readiness and support internal/external audits
- Use data to drive decision-making and improve outcomes
- Partner with Lending, Member Service, Finance, and Operations
- Ensure alignment between collections strategies and overall organizational goals
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in collections, preferably within financial services
- Managerial experience in leading and mentoring successful teams
- Experience in balancing member retention with sound risk management practices
- Knowledge of, and experience in, credit union and/or retail banking
- The ability to identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
Education: Associates/Bachelors in related field or equivalent years of professional experience in lieu of degree.

Employment Details:
- Location: HRCCU Operations Center in Corinth, NY.
- Salary: $62,500-$77,000 based on candidate’s experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skills relevant to the position.
