General Manager for the US
The Body Shop
For over 50 years, The Body Shop has challenged convention – proving that business can be a force for good. As we rebuild and re‑energise the brand globally, the United States plays a critical role in unlocking our next phase of growth.
Your role in a nutshell
We’re now looking for a General Manager for the US, responsible for building and scaling a high-growth US business, responsible for defining and delivering a digitally‑led growth model for a high‑potential market – setting the vision, determining the right routes to consumer, and building a scalable, profitable business with pace and purpose. This is a US-based, senior, high-impact leadership role, responsible for building and scaling a high-growth US business, with accountability for broader North America strategy and regional oversight.
We’re looking for a commercially astute builder who can combine strategic clarity with hands‑on execution, navigate partner‑led models with confidence, and grow a complex market from early scale to meaningful, sustainable size.
More about the role
As General Manager US, you will have full accountability for the end‑to‑end commercial and operational performance of the US market, across ecommerce, marketing, agencies, forecasting, inventory, compliance and selected retail partnerships.
You will act as the architect of The Body Shop’s US growth model – defining how we win in this market. This includes setting a clear point of view on routes to consumer, spanning ecommerce as the primary growth engine, marketplaces, media‑led partnerships and selective physical retail, ensuring the right balance of reach, brand impact and long‑term value creation.
You’ll act as the senior US market lead and the primary bridge between UK‑based global teams and US operating partners – aligning closely to global strategy while confidently shaping the local approach to maximise opportunity and scale.
This role is pivotal in shaping how The Body Shop grows, shows up and wins in the US market – commercially, operationally and culturally.
Key Accountabilities
You will:
- Scale the US business from c.$15M to $50M through profitable, digitally‑led growth, with a longer‑term ambition to support broader regional expansion over time
- Own the full US P&L, with accountability for revenue growth, profitability and long‑term value creation
- Set and lead the annual operating plan and budget, ensuring disciplined financial control and delivery against targets
- Define the US go‑to‑market and distribution strategy, making clear calls on where to play and how to win
- Translate global brand and commercial strategy into effective, locally resonant execution
- Own and scale a digital‑first commercial model, with ecommerce as the primary growth engine across the US Shopify platform
- Oversee agency partners across media, performance, CRM, SEO, social, influencer and affiliate channels
- Establish clear KPIs, reporting rhythms and insight‑led decision making to drive pace and accountability
- Lead forecasting, inventory alignment and operational planning to optimise stock, cash and service levels
- Partner closely with global supply chain, fulfilment and customer experience teams to scale US operations effectively
- Lead readiness and planning for selective physical retail expansion, including Ulta and other strategic partnerships
- Ensure strong governance, compliance and risk management across all third‑party relationships
Build and lead a lean, high‑performing local “start‑up” team (initially operations and marketing), designed to scale through strong partner and agency ecosystems rather than fixed overhead.
What we look for
We’re seeking a senior commercial leader with deep understanding of the US consumer landscape and proven experience building or transforming a market from early scale to sustained growth.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience owning and leading a full market P&L
- Strong exposure to beauty, skincare or premium consumer goods
- Experience operating within partner‑led, franchise or hybrid business models
- A clear point of view on digital commerce, ecommerce‑led growth and route‑to‑market strategy
- Demonstrated ability to lead across ecommerce, marketing and operations in an integrated way
- Confidence managing cross‑border stakeholders and complex global headquarters relationships
- A data‑led, commercially rigorous mindset with a pragmatic approach to execution
- The ability to balance strategic leadership with hands‑on delivery in a lean environment
Above all, you’ll be comfortable making confident calls, challenging the status quo and building momentum in a high‑potential, evolving market, fully aligned to The Body Shop’s purpose and values.
Why Join Us
This is an opportunity to shape the growth trajectory of an iconic, values‑led brand in one of its most important markets, at a defining moment in its evolution.
You’ll have the mandate to build, scale and influence – with the backing of global leadership, the freedom to define the US model, and the chance to create a digitally‑led business that delivers both commercial impact and meaningful purpose.
What you will Gain
At The Body Shop, we believe meaningful leadership should be supported by meaningful rewards. Alongside a competitive salary, we offer a benefits package designed to support your wellbeing, growth and life beyond work.
Most importantly, you’ll join a company where purpose isn’t a side project – it’s the foundation. You’ll lead with impact, grow a critical market, and play a central role in shaping the future of a brand that’s been a force for good for over 50 years.
