The Children’s Corps program aims to make a difference in the lives of children and families impacted by the child welfare system. We do this by placing exceptional candidates in full time employment throughout New York City (NYC). Children’s Corps partners with child welfare organizations where members work as Foster Care Social Workers. These jobs are full-time salaried positions with comprehensive benefits.
The available positions for Children’s Corps Class of 2026:
- Foster Care Case Planner (BA degree)
- Therapeutic Foster Care Socio-Therapist (BA degree)
- Preventive Evidence-Based Case Manager (BA degree)
- Preventive Evidence-Based Therapist (MSW, MHC, MFC)
- Foster Care Social Worker (MSW)
Job Qualifications:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master's degree by July 1, 2026 .
- US citizen/national, permanent resident, DACA, or other valid two-year work authorization.
- Participation in our full-time 3-week pre-service Training Academy, starting July 6, 2026 .
- Commitment to working for 2 years.

Salary: Salaries range from $49,000 - $53,000 (BA Level), $51,000 - $55,000 (MSW Case Planner), $56,000 - $62,000 (Masters level therapists). All salary ranges are subject to change based on degree, language skills, and other job-specific requirements.
Children’s Corps members are required to participate in our mandatory 3-week pre-service Training Academy in New York City . The training brings together real world experience and classroom learning, while also building a community of support. Children’s Corps provides unwavering support to its members through peer-to-peer and staff support, professional mentorship, networking opportunities and social events.
All Children’s Corps placements will support families to ensure children’s safety, permanency, and well-being. No prior experience is required.
Job responsibilities/activities vary depending on the specific position and placement, but may include:
- Overseeing a caseload of children and/or families.
- Visiting parents, children, and families in their homes once per month.
- Researching and referring parents and children to appropriate community-based services (e.g. mental health or DV programs, employment preparation, or activities for adolescents).
- Advocating for families’ needs and efforts to secure important services.
- Supporting and strengthening families in their permanency goals (e.g. reunification or adoption).
- Accompanying families to required programs or service appointments as necessary (e.g. drug treatment, medical, school, housing, public assistance, or immigration).
- Conducting regular assessments for safety and risk.
- Engaging and collaborating with families, other key participants, and relevant systems in goal setting, treatment and/or specific evidence-based treatment practices.
- Coordinating and supervising family visits at the agency and/or in the community in order for children and parents/guardians in foster care to maintain relationships.
- Participating in family team conferences, agency meetings and training, or model consultations.
- Attending and testifying at court hearings.
- Responding to crises as they arise and addressing them using agency protocols.
- Maintaining clear, accurate and timely documentation of all case activity.
- Traveling across NYC’s boroughs as necessary in order to meet the needs of families.
- Provide weekly in-home evidence-based therapeutic services to the caseload of families one - three times per month depending on your therapeutic model
- Participate in individual and group coaching and clinical supervision.
- All positions will include other tasks as needed.
*Please note that traveling to families’ communities/homes and other agency offices is required in all weather conditions. This entails commuting via subways, buses, by foot, and/or by car. Walking up stairs/hills is necessary to get to some locations.
