Job Title: Surgical / Operating Room Technician
Location: Syracuse, New York 13215
Job Type: Contract - 18 Weeks
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Surgical / Operating Room Technician to support procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center. This role requires strong clinical expertise, particularly in acute care and trauma-level environments, with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Work Schedule:
- Day Shift: Monday – Friday
- No weekends
- No holidays
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies during operations
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of surgical instruments
- Support surgical teams across multiple specialties
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to safety protocols
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room experience (within the last 4 years)
- Experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center, teaching hospital, or equivalent-sized facility
- Strong scrub experience required
- Experience across multiple specialties including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopedics
- Neurosurgery
- Trauma
- Vascular
- ENT
- Bariatric
- GU
- GYN
- First Assist experience not applicable/allowed in New York State
- First-time travelers considered only if experience is in similarly sized hospitals
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Clean professional record (no license suspension or investigation history)
- Ability to pass pre-employment health clearance
- Ability to work independently with minimal orientation
Skills & Experience (Converted from Table):
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the surgical/operating room field (Required)
- Certification required
- Scrub experience required
- OB scrub experience is highly desired
Additional Information:
- Candidate must be adaptable to a high-acuity environment
- Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills are essential
