Senior Accountant (Contract)
Client: Well-Known Organization
Location: Carteret, NJ (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $36–$45/hour (Potential for Permanent Hire)
A well-known organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the accounting team with general ledger activities, financial reporting, and budgeting. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes ownership of their work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close activities.
- Assist with financial statement preparation, consolidations, and reporting.
- Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting.
- Analyze budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variances.
- Partner with HR, Operations, Estimating, Project Executives, and other departments to support business initiatives.
- Identify process improvements and assist with ad hoc accounting projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of progressive general ledger accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of balance sheet, income statement, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, consolidations, and variance analysis.
- Construction industry experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
