Position Summary The Superintendent leads, directs, and coordinates both mechanical and civil project activities, and is responsible for customer, subcontractor, and GFS personnel interactions. Principle Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Oversees and makes decisions on the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality
  • control, and employee staffing levels.
  • Oversees work among assigned personnel to promote a coordinated project operation.
  • Resolves issues regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
  • Manages the overall site safety program as required and ensures subcontractor compliance with company standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Develops schedules and determines the sequencing of work.
  • Communicates with owners, project managers, and engineers in connection with shop issues.
  • Reviews prints and builds spool packages
  • Manages work to ensure that it is welded in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
  • Performs typical responsibilities of a supervisor requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and coaching employees and contractors.
  • Supervisory responsibilities, including but not limited to tracking attendance, time off requests, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, termination.
  • Ensures the development of subordinate staff by maintaining competent levels of training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people at different levels
  • within the organization. Knowledge of welding codes.
  • Ability to keep company proprietary information confidential.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and prints.
  • Ability to analyze costs and operate efficiently with all aspects of a job.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and above average math skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organization.
  • Detail orientated with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work various schedules including nights/weekends and local/regional travel.
Specific Educational / Vocational Requirements * 5–8-year experience with projects, demonstrating the ability to lead multiple crews and finish projects on schedule. Licensure And Certification * Valid Driver’s License. Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk, stoop, or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, and is regularly exposed to extreme heat or cold, or temperatures consistent with outdoor weather.
