Our team of 500+ bold creators and trailblazers are shaping the future of the industry, and we want you to be part of it. As we rapidly expand nationwide, we’re looking for talented, driven, and passionate people to join us. If you’re ready to turn your passion into a career, let’s grow the future together.
What the role is about:
We're hiring a founding Director for our New York adult-use cannabis delivery and retail business.
This is a 0-to-1 job. We're launching with one licensed dispensary and an e-bike courier model, then expanding across the city. You'll be the first operating leader on the ground and you'll own the market outcome: launch, facility readiness, hiring, delivery operations, compliance, customer experience, product mix, marketing, P&L, and growth.
You won't run this from a spreadsheet. The right person can set strategy on Monday and walk a construction punch list on Tuesday. They check inventory variance, troubleshoot routes, help pack orders when it matters, and run the P&L. You are the single point of accountability for making New York work.
What impact you'll make:- Own the full New York market P&L, including revenue growth, gross margin, labor, delivery costs, inventory shrink, operating expenses, and profitability
- Lead the launch of the first dispensary and delivery hub, including facility readiness, vendor coordination, security setup, and opening procedures
- Build and execute the operating roadmap to scale from a single location into a multi-unit market.
- Develop and implement local go-to-market strategies focused on customer acquisition, retention, marketing, and delivery zone expansion
- Build strong vendor relationships and optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop the founding team while creating a culture of accountability and high performance
- Design labor models, onboarding programs, operating procedures, and leadership development pathways
- Oversee all last-mile delivery operations, including dispatch, routing, courier performance, safety, and cost optimization
- Establish and maintain SOPs for fulfillment, inventory management, age verification, manifests, and compliance requirements
- Ensure audit-ready operations and implement strong inventory controls to minimize shrink and product diversion
- Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Legal, Finance, Product, Marketing, and Buying teams.
- Own the customer experience by managing service recovery, customer feedback, and continuous operational improvements
- Leverage data, KPIs, and technology to forecast demand, optimize labor, improve profitability, and drive operational efficiency
What you've accomplished:
Required
- 8+ years in operations, general management, retail, logistics, delivery, marketplaces, restaurants, or fulfillment
- 3+ years managing teams that include hourly employees. Experience managing managers strongly preferred
- Real ownership of a business line, market, site, region, or P&L
- Experience owning growth, launch, GTM, merchandising, category performance, or local-market strategy
- Strong commercial judgment, with real practice making tradeoffs across growth, margin, COGS, inventory depth, pricing, and customer experience
- Proven ability to launch or scale an operation with limited structure
- Strong analytical skills. Comfortable using data, spreadsheets, and operating metrics to decide things
- Fluency with modern AI tools and a practical sense of how to use them
- Strong people leadership: hiring, coaching, performance management, culture
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels
- Willing to work on-site, including nights, weekends, holidays, and launch-critical periods
- At least 21 years old
- Able to pass background checks and regulatory requirements
Preferred
- Experience in cannabis, regulated retail, alcohol, pharmacy, food delivery, grocery delivery, convenience, quick commerce, or last-mile logistics
- Experience launching a new market, store, warehouse, dark store, micro-fulfillment site, or delivery hub
- Experience with e-bike, bike courier, or dense urban delivery
- Experience managing assortment, vendor relationships, purchasing, merchandising, or category economics in regulated retail
- Experience running local marketing, performance marketing, field marketing, CRM, partnerships, or promotional calendars
- Familiarity with cannabis category dynamics: brand mix, potency tiers, form factors, margin structure, inventory aging, customer behavior
- Familiarity with inventory controls, seed-to-sale systems, POS, dispatch, route optimization, and shrink prevention
- Experience working with regulators, inspectors, landlords, local officials, security vendors, and construction or facility vendors
- SQL, BI, or advanced Excel/Sheets
- Experience using AI tools for operations, reporting, process design, customer support, marketing, automation, or knowledge management
- Startup or high-growth experience
What we offer:
- Competitive salary range to be discussed
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with employer match
- Flexible PTO policy with 18 days accrued in your first year
