FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering associate and bachelor’s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn, invites applicants for a lecturer position in the Radiologic Technology and Medical Imaging department to begin Fall 2026. This is a full-time position leading to a Certificate of Continuous Employment (CCE).
The Department currently offers a BS degree in Radiological Science and an AAS degree in Radiologic Technology & Medical Imaging. The Lecturer will be expected to teach courses in the core curriculum of both degree programs, with a specific focus in MRI or CT, in addition to a general X-ray background.
Lecturers are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and service to the Department and College, including academic advisement of current and prospective students. Professional scholarship is not required for this position.
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Radiologic Technology and Medical Imaging, the Lecturer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching in the AAS and BS programs, including Introduction to Radiologic Technology, Radiographic Procedures, MR/CT Anatomy, Pathophysiology, and Instrumentation.
- Using effective teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and promote critical thinking.
- Collaborating on departmental curriculum development, assessment, and pedagogical innovation.
- Participating in program self-study reports for accreditation.
- Contributing to undergraduate research and department/college/university initiatives.
- Advising AAS and BS students and supporting professional development.
- Participating in faculty assessment and professional development activities.
- Contributing to programmatic assessment.
- Maintaining current knowledge of technological advances, industry trends, and best practices in radiologic technology and medical imaging.
Flexibility to teach day, evening, or weekend courses as needed is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
Current licensure and registration by the New York State Department of Health in Radiologic Technology is also required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree or higher in Radiological Science or a related field strongly preferred
- Current ARRT certification in MRI or CT
- Proficiency in online learning pedagogy and the use of learning management systems such as Brightspace or Blackboard
- A minimum of five years of professional clinical experience in the Radiologic Technology and Medical Imaging field
- Experience in teaching Radiologic Technology, MRI or CT
- Prior research experience in radiologic or medical fields is highly desirable
- Ability to develop or teach radiology-relevant liberal arts electives (imaging physics, medical statistics, radiation biology, healthcare ethics)
COMPENSATION
$70,571 – $87,420, salary commensurate with education and experience.
- Salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective September 1, 2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
