Forsythia is hiring a sous chef!

Forsythia is a Roman restaurant in the heart of downtown Manhattan. The staff is comprised of young veterans in the hospitality industry and we are looking to add someone to the fold who wants to grow with us. We cook regional Italian food with a focus on Rome. Our food and culture follows Italian philosophy: seasonality, quality ingredients, history, care and passion.

We're looking for someone who can marry their experience with a small business mindset and a passion for authentic Italian cooking. The ideal candidate is someone with an above average ability to find new solutions to old issues - highly adaptable, nimble, motivated, and able to make good decisions quickly. We are looking for someone with high standards of their own that mesh with our professional standards and push this team towards excellence.

We are looking for at least 3 years of experience, preferably in Italian kitchens, but not required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to training cooks, managing quality control, stepping in to cook and fill in gaps during service, assisting with menu creation, placing orders, maintaining and encouraging a positive work environment, and managing prep production.

We are looking for full-time employment. Weekend and holiday availability is mandatory.
