Line Cook
SoHo’s original boutique hotel is seeking talented, passionate line cooks with open availability to join their expanding culinary team. Candidates will work under the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chefs to prepare and serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, lounge, room service, and catering menus. Responsibilities include cooking a robust menu of American classics, ensuring a clean, stocked workstation, and maintaining the high standards set by the Executive Chef. All necessary recipes and resources will be provided. Participation in daily pre-shift meetings to communicate any relevant information with the chefs on duty. Must comply with hotel guidelines and the standards of the New York State Department of Health.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all food items are prepped and ready for service, meeting quality and freshness standards.
- Work in a clean and organized manner.
- Assist in ordering by providing counts of food items and other supplies needed for your station.
- Support fellow kitchen team members whenever needed.
- Foster a respectful relationship between the front-of-house and kitchen staff.
- Strive to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for yourself, your teammates, and our guests.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years of experience in a comparable kitchen,
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Culinary education and/or certification a plus.
- Must hold a Food Handlers Certification from NY State or commit to acquiring within a month of start date.
- Proficient knife skills and knowledge of various kitchen appliances and tools.
ABILITY TO
- Work efficiently at a fast pace while maintaining control over cooking tasks.
- Read and execute recipes written in English.
- Communicate clearly and effectively
- Stand, walk, and navigate stairs throughout your shift.
- Maintain clean work habits and a strong attention to detail.
- Multi-task effectively to plan ahead
- Be adaptable by learning all aspects of each position to provide coverage when needed, including helping with the cafeteria and events.
